To make sure that you get a good night’s sleep even through the harsh cold of the winter season, you need to have flannel sheets in your bed. The soft fabric of these sheets are guaranteed to keep you warm and cozy despite freezing temperatures. Heavyweight flannel sheets are the most useful when it comes to fighting the cold of the winter. These are also one of the priciest sheets around. So if you want to make sure that your flannel sheets stay durable and effective for many years, proper care and handling should be practiced.

Flannel sheets care is of utmost importance if you aim to let them last long. One particular problem of flannel sheet is pilling of the soft top. To avoid pilling, you must wash your newly purchased flannel sheets in warm water with a mild detergent and half a cup of white vinegar added to the rinse cycle. Use only mild detergents when washing flannels. Harsh ingredients such as bleach can your sheets wear out faster. If your sheets have already started pilling the best remedy for it is to wash it in white vinegar alone, without the detergent this time, in warm water. This will stop the pilling and help the flannel go back to its original tip top shape.

Before storing your sheets back in the closet, you must first wash and dry them then place them neatly back into the closet. Make sure to put a dryer sheet in between flannels so that come winter time your flannel sheets are ready for use again. If you find stains in your flannel sheet make sure to use a spray spot remover. Again, it is not advisable to use harsh detergents as they easily wear out the fabric. Never rub the fabric in trying to remove the stains because this can contribute to pilling and give your sheet that old and worn out look. Having sheets that are rough to the touch are not too comforting when you are trying to get a good night’s rest. Flannel sheets can be dried using a dryer on low heat or, if the weather in your area permits, they can also be air dried by hanging them on a clothesline.

So whether you are using flannel sheets queen sized or king sized, it is important to follow steps in their proper care. You would want to maintain their effectivity in keeping you warm throughout the winter. Also, the softness of the fabric should be kept in check so that you enjoy the utmost comfort in bed.
