Since the oil can also promote diarrhea and dehydration, there is a possibility that women who use the oil to induce labor may suffer from said problems. Thus, it is important to note that a health care provider is present or within reach when you are to induce labor using castor oil.

How Much Castor Oil should be Used?

There are many variations to the amount of castor that can be used to induce labor. Midwives allow about 2 ounces. It is also better to mix the oil with milk shake if you are not lactose-intolerant, fruit juices or you can suck lemon or lime. Just make sure to ask for the acceptable amount first before you can use the oil so that you will not be harmed. Remember that the taste of the oil may prove to be too much for you and this might cause nausea or vomiting. You need to mask the taste with the mentioned alternatives so that you can also mask the odor that may come along with the taste.
