Project Laundry Room Organization

by GuestPoster on December 5, 2010

Laundry rooms are one of the most hard- working rooms in the house. Sadly, not all houses in America can afford to have a big area turned into a laundry room. I always believed that the key to maximizing a small area is to keep everything organized, which is what you need to do to your laundry room. Aside from making more space, laundry room organizers also help in keeping everything in the right place making it easier for you to find stuff when you need it. This results in an organized home! If you are a new home maker, or if you are new to the world of organization, here are some tips for launching your organize laundry room project.

PLAN THE PROJECT

The thing with organizing laundry rooms, as with all other organizing projects, is that they cannot be done in an hour. If you want to throughly clean and organize your laundry room, it is important that you devote a whole day to it. If you are a working mom who have teenagers or big kids, you can set working on the laundry room on a weekend so that you’ve got hands to help you out. Turn it into a family project and promise to treat your kids later which is a way of thanking them and family bonding at the same time.

KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

Before you organize the laundry room, you need to know exactly what you need to do. Make a to- do list so that you’ll know what you’ll be doing first. Start with taking all clutters out, then deciding what needs to be kept ot not. You might also want to decide if you need to add some cabinets or equipments ahead of time so that you can set a budget for it before actually working on the room.

ADD SOME STORAGE

The secret with laundry rooms is storage, storage and more storage! Most Americans have really tiny laundry rooms, but supplies and clothes often takes a lot of space which is why you need to add storage spaces. You can either add cabinets or shelves, or you can also buy portable storage boxes for a cheaper option.

MAINTAIN IT

What we all need to understand that organizing your laundry room is not a one- time thing. Once you organize the laundry room, you would need to keep it that way. If you do not have the time, at least make sure to devote a day for cleaning the laundry room. Once you are done with the initial cleaning, keeping it that way would only take a few minutes, and you can actually do the cleaning while the laundry is on the washing machine.
