Small Bathroom Remodeling Projects

by GuestPoster on May 6, 2011

Space issues are not uncommon with regard to bathrooms. Often, a homeowner or renter would enjoy having a vanity or hot tub but finds there is no space available for such items. In homes or rentals where breaking out a wall to increase the size of the room is not an option, many individuals choose instead to remodel. Bathroom remodeling ideas for small bathrooms can have both negative and positive characteristics. However, if one obtains the right information and uses an appropriate plan, a bathroom remodeling project can be a worthwhile endeavor.

Before beginning a remodeling project in one’s bathroom, he or she should take proper measurements and come up with a floor plan that will maximize the space in the area so that it can be used to its full potential. The person completing the project must give consideration to the tile, sinks, cabinets, and other fixtures so that the desired look can be accomplished. Fresh, bright, clean colors look best in a bathroom and give the room a neat, attractive appearance.

Additionally, there are a variety of ways to conserve space in a bathroom that has limited square footage, and one of these is to avoid heavy, bulky drapes, and opt instead for cheap window blinds and shades. Wall-mounted sinks and pedestal sinks are also space-savers and these can be purchased outright or ordered custom-made from almost any home improvement center or online home interiors store.

It is also essential to set a limit on the amount of items that will be placed in the bathroom, as too many objects create a cluttered, untidy atmosphere. It may be better to utilize another room of the home as a dressing room, rather than try to use the bathroom for such purposes on top of everything else for which it must be used. This will eliminate scattering clothes and other articles around the bathroom where there is not adequate space. Too many decorative accessories are also a mistake when designing the interior of a small bathroom.

With appropriate planning or even the help of an interior designer, small bathroom remodeling designs can be completed in a cost-effective and timely manner, and having a new bathroom in which one will not feel cramped will be well worth the effort in the long run.
